Specializing in consulting, management, and staffing solutions for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeons.

Cardiovascular and Thoracic Solutions, LLC was born out of the realization that solutions are not only needed in our specialty but remain elusive for many surgeons and programs. Our aim is to provide durable solutions for both surgeons and hospital programs.

From the standpoint of the surgeon, many have found the employed model less than satisfying yet do not perceive a ready alternative that will be rewarding clinically. Many strive for the ability to control their circumstances, their time out of the hospital and to have a meaningful voice in the direction of their program. We offer surgeons the opportunity to step outside of the employed model without a reduction in income and to have their skills help to solve the problems programs may be facing. We offer them a surgical group experience to discuss difficult cases, to help manage clinical issues and to assure them that there will be adequate time out of the hospital and that their patients will be covered by experienced surgeons.

From the standpoint of the program, we offer our years of experience to help address whatever problems they may be facing. We can serve as an impartial third person in addressing hospital problems, offer creative ideas to further their clinical goals and provide the support needed to meet the clinical goals. What is also clear is that the practice of cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery is rapidly changing and that those who are able to adapt to new circumstances will be the ones that emerge in a stronger position. Our experience and service will help both surgeons and programs adapt to the changes and provide the best care for their patients now and into the future.

After 20 years of working for a large hospital system I transitioned back to working for myself. At first I was hesitant because it seemed like I was giving up security, but the more I thought about it I realized that security as a small cog in a large machine was an illusion. Now that I work for myself I have much more say about my schedule as well as how I construct the finances of my practice. Specifically I have retirement options that would have never been available to me in a large organization.
One of the unique characteristics of our organization is that we are structured as a solutions company whose goal is to improve the practice of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery for both our surgeons and surgical programs. I find it very refreshing to be an active participant again in designing optimal care solutions for our patients and hospitals. I take great pride in knowing our organization allows surgeons to fully participate in how their patients are cared for and to help hospitals improve and grow their programs.
There are plenty of patients to care for, but for many surgeons neither the employed model nor the locums model are appealing. We are defining a third way where surgeons and hospitals partner together for the good of the patient and the hospital program while maintaining our autonomy as surgeons. We are looking for high quality surgeons who are willing to work hard yet want to maintain a work life balance. If you find this concept appealing I invite you to consider joining us.
